Here are 5 tried and tested tips, to keep your cruise vacation under budget

If you're looking for a budget-friendly vacation, look no further than cruising. Cruising can be surprisingly affordable, and there are plenty of ways to make it fit your budget. In this blog post, we will discuss five ways to make a cruise your next budget vacation. So read on and start planning your dream cruise today!

1. Sail on a budget cruise line

Cruise lines offer a variety of pricing options to fit every budget. When booking your cruise, be sure to compare the different pricing options and choose the one that best fits your needs.  Cruise lines like Carnival, and Margaritaville have some of the most competitive pricing in the industry.

2. Cruise Duration

Many cruise lines offer short cruises from as little as 2 days.  These cruises do tend to attract a more party/drinking centric crowd, but don't let that put you off.  Cruise ships are surprisingly spacious, so it's easy to steer clear of any rowdy behavior.  Of course, if it's the party atmosphere that you are looking for, then the next suggestion is for you.

3. Consider a drinks package

There is many a story of people who wake up on the last day of their cruise to see they have broken the bank in terms of their alcohol purchases.  Cocktails typically cost between $12-15.  Drinks packages start at around $55 per person, per day, so typically have a break even point of 5 or 6 drinks per day.  If you think you might exceed this, then you can really save money, and be worry free, by taking the drinks package up front.

4. Cabin Type

There are a variety of cabin types on board cruise ships.  Standard cabins include Interior, Oceanview, Balcony, and Suites.  Interior cabins typically have no windows, and can be really dark.  The plus side is that they are some of the most affordable cabins on board.  Some cruise lines even off $0 rates (plus taxes, and fees) to entice new customer in.

5. Avoid cruise provided shore excursions

Please do your research in advance as some ports are far away from the main tourist destinations, so this isn't a one-stop approach.  Shore excursions are offered by the cruise lines, however can be very expensive compared to private excursions.  Many ports even have resort type amenities available nearby for a fraction of the cost.  You might even find a hop-on hop-off tour bus for as little as $15 per person available in some ports, which is a great way to explore the key tourist points of any city.

By following these tips, you can easily make a cruise your next budget vacation. So start planning your dream cruise today! Cruise Vacations are a great way to explore the world and visit multiple destinations without breaking the bank. Follow these tips and you’ll be sure to have a budget-friendly cruise vacation that you’ll never forget.
